Translation
✧ The account of the annulment of the sheet [the trial of Hishām b. ʿAmr in annulling the sheet] Ibn Isḥāq said: The Banū Hāshim and the Banū al-Muṭṭalib were in their abode, concerning which Quraysh had made a pact against them in the sheet they had written. Then a group of Quraysh rose to annul that sheet in which Quraysh had written against the Banū Hāshim and the Banū al-Muṭṭalib, and no one was tried in it more excellently than the trial of Hishām b. ʿAmr b. Rabīʿah b. al-Ḥārith b. Ḥabīb b. Naṣr b. (Judhaymah) b. Mālik b. Ḥisl b. ʿĀmir b. Luʾayy. That is because he was the son of the brother of Naḍlah b. Hāshim b. ʿAbd Manāf through his mother. Hishām was thus connected to the Banū Hāshim, and he was a man of nobility among his people. He would, as it has reached me, bring a camel at night while the Banū Hāshim and the Banū al-Muṭṭalib were in the mountain pass, having loaded it with food, until when he brought it to the mouth of the pass, he would remove its halter from its head, then strike it on its side, and it would enter the pass to them. Then he would bring it having loaded it with cloth, and he would do the like with it.
