Sirat Ibn Hisham 355

Translation

✧ [What Abu Jahl used to torment with those who embraced Islam] And Abu Jahl, the wicked, was the one who incited [others] against them among men of Quraysh. When he heard of a man who had embraced Islam, if he had nobility and protection, he rebuked him and disgraced him and said: "You have abandoned the religion of your father, and he is better than you. We will certainly make your forbearance appear foolish, we will certainly make your judgment appear flawed, and we will certainly lower your nobility." And if he was a merchant, he said: "By Allah, we will certainly make your trade stagnant, and we will certainly destroy your wealth." And if he was weak, he beat him and incited [others] against him.
