Something of Tubban's career

Translation

✧ [SOMETHING OF THE LIFE OF TUBBĀN] Ibn Isḥāq said: Tubbān Asʿad Abū Karib was the one who came to Madinah, drove the two learned men of the Jews of Madinah to Yemen, and renovated and clothed the Sacred House. His reign was before the reign of Rabīʿah b. Naṣr. Ibn Hishām said: He is the one about whom it is said: Would that my share of Abū Karib were such that his good might outweigh his harm. [TUBBĀN’S ANGER AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF MADINAH, AND ITS CAUSE] Ibn Isḥāq said: He had made his route—when he came from the east—by way of Madinah. He had passed through it at the outset of his journey without provoking its people, and he had left behind among them a son of his, who was assassinated treacherously. So he came to it determined to destroy it, exterminate its people, and cut down its palm trees. Then this clan of the Anṣār gathered against him, led by ʿAmr b. Ṭallah, the brother of the Banū al-Najjār, then one of the Banū ʿAmr b. Mabdhūl—and the name of Mabdhūl is ʿĀmir b. Mālik b. al-Najjār; and the name of al-Najjār is Taym Allāh b. Thaʿlabah b. ʿAmr b. al-Khazraj b. Ḥārithah b. Thaʿlabah b. ʿAmr b. ʿĀmir. [THE LINEAGE OF ʿAMR B. ṬALLAH] Ibn Hishām said: ʿAmr b. Ṭallah was ʿAmr b. Muʿāwiyah b. ʿAmr b. ʿĀmir b. Mālik b. al-Najjār. Ṭallah was his mother, and she was the daughter of ʿĀmir b. Zurayq b. ʿAbd Ḥārithah b. Mālik b. Ghaḍb b. Jusham b. al-Khazraj.
