His marriage to Zaynab bt. Khuzaymah
[ عِدَّتُهُنَّ وَشَأْنُ الرَّسُولِ مَعَهُنَّ ] فَهَؤُلَاءِ اللَّاتِي بَنَى بِهِنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إحْدَى عَشَرَةَ، فَمَاتَ قَبْلَهُ مِنْهُنَّ ثِنْتَانِ: خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ، وَزَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ خُزَيْمَةَ. وَتُوُفِّيَ عَنْ تِسْعٍ قَدْ ذَكَرْنَاهُنَّ فِي أَوَّلِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ؛ وَثِنْتَانِ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ بِهِمَا: أَسَمَاءُ بِنْتُ النُّعْمَانِ الْكِنْدِيَّةُ، تَزَوَّجَهَا فَوَجَدَ بِهَا بَيَاضًا، فَمَتَّعَهَا وَرَدَّهَا إلَى أَهْلِهَا، وَعَمْرَةُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ الْكِلَابِيَّةُ وَكَانَتْ حَدِيثَةَ عَهْدٍ بِكُفْرٍ؛ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، اسْتَعَاذَتْ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: مَنِيعٌ عَائِذٌ اللَّهَ فَرَدَّهَا إلَى أَهْلِهَا، وَيُقَالُ: إنَّ الَّتِي اسْتَعَاذَتْ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ كِنْدِيَّةُ بِنْتُ عَمٍّ لِأَسْمَاءِ بِنْتِ النُّعْمَانِ، وَيُقَالُ إنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَعَاهَا، فَقَالَتْ: إنَّا قَوْمٌ نُؤْتَى وَلَا نَأْتِي؛ فَرَدَّهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إلَى أَهْلِهَا
Translation
✧ [ Their number period and situation of the Messenger with them ] So these are those with whom the Messenger of God ﷺ consummated marriage, eleven. Two of them died before him: Khadījah bt. Khuwaylid and Zaynab bt. Khuzaymah. He died leaving nine, whom we have mentioned at the beginning of this account; and two with whom he did not consummate: Asmāʾ bt. al-Nuʿmān al-Kindiyyah. He married her and found in her a whiteness, so he gave her a gift and returned her to her people; and ʿAmrah bt. Yazīd al-Kilābiyyah. She was recent in covenant with unbelief. So when she came to the Messenger of God ﷺ, she sought refuge from the Messenger of God ﷺ. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "An inaccessible protector. God is sought for refuge." Then he returned her to her people. And it is said: the one who sought refuge from the Messenger of God ﷺ was a Kindiyyah, a paternal cousin of Asmāʾ bt. al-Nuʿmān. And it is said that the Messenger of God ﷺ summoned her, and she said: "We are a people who are approached, not who approach." So the Messenger of God ﷺ returned her to her people.
