The Exclusive Assumption of the Guardianship of the House by a Group from Khuzāʿah
اسْتِبْدَادُ قَوْمٍ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ بِوِلَايَةِ الْبَيْتِ قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: ثُمَّ إنَّ غُبْشَانَ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ وَلِيَتْ الْبَيْتَ دُونَ بَنِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ، وَكَانَ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ مِنْهُمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْغُبْشَانِيُّ، وَقُرَيْشٌ إذْ ذَاكَ حُلُولٌ وَصِرَمٌ، وَبُيُوتَاتٌ مُتَفَرِّقُونَ فِي قَوْمِهِمْ مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ، فَوَلِيَتْ خُزَاعَةُ الْبَيْتَ يَتَوَارَثُونَ ذَلِكَ كَابِرًا عَنْ كَابِرٍ، حَتَّى كَانَ آخِرُهُمْ حُلَيْلُ بْنُ حَبَشِيَّةَ بْنِ سَلُولَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْخُزَاعِيَّ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: يُقَالُ حُبْشِيَّةُ بْنُ سَلُولَ. تَزَوُّجُ قُصَيِّ بْنِ كِلَابٍ حُبَّى بِنْتَ حُلَيْلٍ
Translation
✧ THE MONOPOLIZATION BY A GROUP OF KHUZĀʿAH OF THE GUARDIANSHIP OF THE HOUSE Ibn Isḥāq said: Then the Ghubshān of Khuzāʿah took over the guardianship of the House to the exclusion of the Banū Bakr b. ʿAbd Manāh. The one among them who held it was ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith al-Ghubshānī. Quraysh at that time were scattered groups, small parties, and separate households among their people of the Banū Kinānah. So Khuzāʿah held the guardianship of the House, inheriting it one generation after another, until the last of them was Ḥulayl b. Ḥabashiyyah b. Salūl b. Kaʿb b. ʿAmr al-Khuzāʿī.
