Translation

✧ [Poem of Jaʿdah on the Day of the Conquest] Ibn Hishām said: Jaʿdah b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Khuzāʿī said on the day of the conquest of Makkah: Is it Kaʿb b. ʿAmr—a call not false—for a destined time for him on the day of iron, made available? It was made available for him from his earth and his heaven, to kill him at night without weapon. And we are the ones who blocked Ghazāl with our horses, and Liftan we blocked it, and Fajj Ṭilāḥ. We advanced behind the Muslims with a great army, possessors of strength, of our horses and spears. These verses are among verses of his. [Poem of Bujayd on the Day of the Conquest] And Bujayd b. ʿImrān al-Khuzāʿī said: And God has raised up the clouds with our victory, heaped up, companions of the thick, piled-up rain cloud. And our emigration is in our land; with us there is a book that came from the best of dictators and scribes. And for our sake a sacredness settled in Makkah, that we might attain vengeance with the sharp swords.
