The account of the slander in the expedition of Banū al-Muṣṭaliq (in the year six)
خَبَرُ الْإِفْكِ فِي غَزْوَةِ بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ ( سَنَةَ سِتٍّ ) قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَقَّاصٍ، وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَعَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، وَعَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، قَالَ: كُلٌّ قَدْ حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، وَبَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ كَانَ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ، وَقَدْ جَمَعْتُ لَكَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي الْقَوْمُ.
Translation
✧ The report of the slander (al-ifk) in the expedition of Banū al-Muṣṭaliq (year six) Ibn Isḥāq said: al-Zuhrī narrated to us, from ʿAlqamah b. Waqqāṣ, and from Saʿīd b. Jubayr and from ʿUrwah b. al-Zubayr, and from ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUtbah; he said: Each one narrated to me part of this tradition, and some of the people were more retentive of it than others, and I have collected for you what the people narrated to me.
