The Messenger's glad tidings to the Muslims of the expedition against Quraysh

Translation

✧ [Another poem by Hubayrah lamenting ʿAmr on the day of the Trench] Hubayrah b. Abī Wahb said, weeping for ʿAmr b. ʿAbd Wudd and mentioning ʿAlī's killing of him: I have known that the upper part of Luʾayy b. Ghālib, its rider is ʿAmr whenever a calamity befalls, Its rider is ʿAmr whenever ʿAlī would drive him hard, and indeed the lion must be a seeker, On the evening when ʿAlī called him out, and indeed he was its rider when the squadrons shrank back from him. Alas for my soul that I left ʿAmr at Yathrib; may the calamities never cease there.
