The martyrs of the day of the trench
Translation
✧ [The polytheists offering the Messenger to buy the body of Nawfal on the day of the trench] Ibn Isḥāq said: Of Banū Makhzūm b. Yaqaẓah: Nawfal b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mughīrah. They asked the Messenger of God ﷺ to sell them his body; he had plunged into the trench and fallen into it and was killed, and the Muslims gained control of his body. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "We have no need of his body or its price," and he left the way open between them and him. Ibn Hishām said: They offered the Messenger of God ﷺ ten thousand dirhams for his body, according to what has reached me from al-Zuhrī. [Of Banū ʿĀmir] Ibn Isḥāq said: Of Banū ʿĀmir b. Luʾayy, then of Banū Mālik b. Ḥisl: ʿAmr b. ʿAbd Wudd. ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib, may God be pleased with him, killed him. Ibn Hishām said: A trustworthy source related to me that he related from Ibn Shihāb al-Zuhrī that he said: ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib killed on that day ʿAmr b. ʿAbd Wudd and his son Ḥisl b. ʿAmr. Ibn Hishām said: It is said ʿAmr b. ʿAbd Wudd, and it is said ʿAmr b. ʿAbd. [The martyrs of the Muslims on the day of Banū Qurayẓah] Ibn Isḥāq said: On the day of Banū Qurayẓah, among the Muslims, then of Banū al-Ḥārith b. al-Khazraj, Khallād b. Suwayd b. Thaʿlabah b. ʿAmr was martyred. A millstone was thrown on him and crushed him severely. They claimed that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "He has the reward of two martyrs." And Abū Sinān b. Muḥṣan b. Ḥarthān, brother of Banū Asad b. Khuzaymah, died while the Messenger of God ﷺ was besieging Banū Qurayẓah, and he was buried in the cemetery of Banū Qurayẓah where they bury today, and to which they have buried their dead in Islam.
