The killing of Banū Qurayẓa
Translation
✧ [One woman from their women was killed on the day of Qurayẓah] Ibn Isḥāq said: Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr narrated to me, from ʿUrwah b. al-Zubayr, from ʿĀʾishah, the Mother of the Believers, that she said: None of their women were killed except one woman. She said: By God, she was with me, talking with me and laughing heartily, while the Messenger of God ﷺ was killing their men in the market. Then a caller called out her name: 'Where is so-and-so?' She said: 'I am here, by God.' She said: I said to her: 'Woe to you! What is the matter with you?' She said: 'I am to be killed.' I said: 'And why?' She said: 'For an act I committed.' She said: So she was taken away and her neck was struck. ʿĀʾishah used to say: By God, I shall never forget my amazement at her good spirits and her much laughter, though she knew she would be killed. Ibn Hishām said: She was the one who threw the millstone upon Khallād b. Suwayd and killed him.
