[ مَقْتَلُ ابْنِ وَرْقَاءَ وَرِثَاءُ ابْنِ رَوَاحَةَ لَهُ ] وَقَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ السُّلَمِيُّ، وَكَانَ خَالَ طُعَيْمَةَ بْنَ عَدِيِّ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، وَقَتَلَ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَافِعَ بْنَ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ وَرْقَاءَ الْخُزَاعِيَّ: تَرَكْتُ ابْنَ وَرْقَاءَ الْخُزَاعِيَّ ثَاوِيًا بِمُعْتَرَكِ تَسْفِي عَلَيْهِ الْأَعَاصِرُ ذَكَرْتُ أَبَا الرَّيَّانِ لَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ وَأَيْقَنْتُ أَنِّي عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ ثَائِرُ وَأَبُو الرَّيَّانِ: طُعَيْمَةُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ. وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ يَبْكِي نَافِعَ بْنَ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ وَرْقَاءَ: رَحِمَ اللَّهُ نَافِعَ بْنَ بُدَيْلٍ رَحْمَةَ الْمُبْتَغِي ثَوَابَ الْجِهَادِ صَابِرٌ صَادِقٌ وَفِيٌّ إذَا مَا أَكْثَرَ الْقَوْمُ قَالَ قَوْلَ السِّدَادِ
Translation
✧ [The killing of Ibn Warqāʾ and the elegy of Ibn Rawāḥah for him] Anas b. ʿAbbās al-Sulamī—who was the maternal uncle of Ṭuʿaymah b. ʿAdī b. Nawfal and who killed that day Nāfiʿ b. Budayl b. Warqāʾ al-Khuzāʿī—said: I left Ibn Warqāʾ al-Khuzāʿī lying in the battlefield, the whirlwinds sweeping dust over him. I remembered Abū al-Rayyān when I saw him, and I knew that I would be avenged for that. Abū al-Rayyān is Ṭuʿaymah b. ʿAdī. And ʿAbd Allāh b. Rawāḥah said, weeping for Nāfiʿ b. Budayl b. Warqāʾ: May God have mercy on Nāfiʿ b. Budayl, the mercy of one who seeks the reward of jihād, Steadfast, truthful, faithful; when the people spoke much, he spoke the word of what is right.
