Sirat Ibn Hisham 1077

What was revealed of the Qurʾān concerning the detachment of al-Rajīʿ

Translation

✧ Ibn Isḥāq said: Ḥassān b. Thābit also said, satirizing Hudhayl: Hudhayl asked the Messenger of Allah for an obscenity; Hudhayl went astray in what they asked, and they did not attain right guidance. They asked their messenger for what he would not give them until death, and they were a disgrace among the Arabs. You will never see for Hudhayl a caller ever calling to a noble deed concerning the station of war. They indeed desired, woe to them, the qualities of obscenity and to make lawful what was forbidden in the scriptures.
