Sirat Ibn Hisham 1076
What was revealed of the Qurʾān concerning the detachment of al-Rajīʿ
Translation
✧ Ibn Isḥāq said: Ḥassān b. Thābit also said: If pure treachery, unmixed, pleases you, then come to al-Rajīʿ and ask about the abode of Liḥyān. A people who enjoined one another among themselves to consume the neighbour—the dog, the ape, and the human are two alike. If the he-goat could speak one day, he would rise to address them, and he would be one of honour among them and one of rank. Ibn Hishām said: Abū Zayd al-Anṣārī recited to me his saying: If the he-goat could speak one day, he would rise to address them, and he would be one of honour among them and one of rank.
