أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ حِينَ أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ مِنْ أَمْوَالِ هَوَازِنَ مَا أَفَاءَ فَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُعْطِي رِجَالًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ الْمِئَةَ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ فَقَالُوا يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لِرَسُولِهِ يُعْطِي قُرَيْشًا وَيَتْرُكُنَا وَسُيُوفُنَا تَقْطُرُ مِنْ دِمَائِهِمْ قَالَ أَنَسٌ فَحَدَّثْتُ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمْ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى الْأَنْصَارِ فَجَمَعَهُمْ فِي قُبَّةٍ مِنْ أَدَمٍ فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعُوا جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكُمْ؟ » فَقَالَ لَهُ قَوْمٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَمَّا ذَوُو أَسْنَانِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَلَمْ يَقُولُوا شَيْئًا وَأَمَّا نَاسٌ مِنَّا حَدِيثَةٌ أَسْنَانُهُمْ فَقَالُوا يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لِرَسُولِهِ يُعْطِي أُنَاسًا وَسُيُوفُنَا تَقْطُرُ مِنْ دِمَائِهِمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي أُعْطِي رِجَالًا حَدِيثِي عَهْدٍ بِالْكُفْرِ أَتَأَلَّفُهُمْ أَفَلَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالْأَمْوَالِ وَتَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى رِحَالِكُمْ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ لَمَا تَنْقَلِبُونَ بِهِ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَنْقَلِبُونَ» فَقَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ رَضِينَا قَالَ «فَإِنَّكُمْ سَتَجِدُونَ أَثَرَةً شَدِيدَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلَقَوَا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ» قَالُوا سَنَصْبِرُ

✧ Some people of the Ansar said on the day of Hunayn, when Allah gave His Messenger as spoils from the wealth of Hawazin what He gave, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began giving men of Quraysh one hundred camels each. They said, "May Allah forgive His Messenger; he gives Quraysh and leaves us while our swords are dripping with their blood." Anas said: So I told the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of their saying. He sent for the Ansar and gathered them in a leather tent. When they had gathered, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to them and said, "What is this report that has reached me from you?" A group of the Ansar said to him, "As for our elders, O Messenger of Allah, they said nothing; but some young men among us said, 'May Allah forgive His Messenger; he gives some people while our swords are dripping with their blood.'" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I give men who are recent in disbelief, seeking to win their hearts. Are you not satisfied that the people go with wealth and you return to your dwellings with the Messenger of Allah? By Allah, what you return with is better than what they return with." They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, we are satisfied." He said, "You will find severe favoritism, so be patient until you meet Allah and His Messenger at the Pond." They said, "We will be patient."
