✧ Usayd b. Hudayr al-Ashhalī, the Naqīb, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned to him a household of the Ansar who were in need. He said—and he had already distributed some food—so the Prophet ﷺ said, "You left us until what was in our hands was gone. So when you hear of something that has come to us, remind me of that household." He said: Then after that, food came to him from Khaybar: barley and dates. He said: And most of the people of that household were women. He said: So he distributed among the people and distributed among the Ansar, and he gave generously; and he distributed to the people of that household and gave generously. Usayd b. Hudayr said to him, thanking him: "May Allah reward you, O Prophet of Allah, with the best reward on our behalf"—or he said, "with good." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "And you, O assembly of the Ansar, may Allah reward you with the best reward"—or he said, "with good. I have known you to be chaste and patient, and you will see after me favoritism in command and livelihood, so be patient until you meet me at the Pond."
