أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِي حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ يَعْنِي عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ مُضَارِبِ بْنِ حَزْنٍ قَالَ

بَيْنَا أَنَا أَسِيرُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِذَا رَجُلٌ يُكَبِّرُ فَأَلْحَقْتُهُ بَعِيرِي قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا الْمُكَبِّرُ؟ قَالَ «أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ» قُلْتُ مَا هَذَا التَّكْبِيرُ؟ قَالَ «شُكْرًا» قُلْتُ عَلَى مَهْ؟ قَالَ «عَلَى أَنِّي كُنْتُ أَجِيرًا لِبُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ غَزْوَانَ بعُقْبَةِ رِجْلِي وَطَعَامِ بَطْنِي فَكَانَ الْقَوْمُ إِذَا رَكِبُوا سُقْتُ لَهُمْ وَإِذَا نَزَلُوا خَدَمْتُهُمْ فَزَوَّجَنِيهَا اللَّهُ فَهِيَ امْرَأَتِي الْيَوْمَ فَأَنَا إِذَا رَكِبَ الْقَوْمُ رَكِبْتُ وَإِذَا نَزَلُوا خُدِمْتُ»

✧ While I was traveling at night, there was a man saying takbir. I made my camel catch up with him and said, 'Who is this saying takbir?' He said, 'Abu Hurayrah.' I said, 'What is this takbir for?' He said, 'In gratitude.' I said, 'For what?' He said, 'For that I was a hired worker for Busrah bint Ghazwan in return for my food and the use of my feet [to serve her]. When the people rode, I drove their camels, and when they dismounted, I served them. Then Allah gave her to me in marriage, and now she is my wife. So now when the people ride, I ride, and when they dismount, I am served.'"
