أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

تُوُفِّيَ أَبِي وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَى غُرَمَائِهِ أَنْ يَأْخُذُوا التَّمْرَ بِمَا عَلَيْهِ فَأَبَوْا وَلَمْ يُعْرَفُوا أَنَّ فِيهِ وَفَاءً فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «إِذَا جَدَدْتَهُ وَوَضَعْتَهُ فَآذِنْ لِي» فَلَمَّا جَدَدْتُ وَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ آذَنْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَجَلَسَ فَدَعَا لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَقَالَ «ادْعُ غُرَمَاءَكَ وَأَوْفِهِمْ» فَمَا تَرَكْتُ أَحَدًا لَهُ عَلَى أَبِي دَيْنٌ إِلَّا قَضَيْتُهُ وَفَضَلَ لِي ثَلَاثَةَ عَشَرَ وَسْقًا عَجْوَةً قَالَ فَوَافَيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْمَغْرِبِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَضَحِكَ ﷺ وَقَالَ «ائْتِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَأَخْبِرْهُمَا» فَقَالَا قَدْ عَلِمْنَا إِذْ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا صَنَعَ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ

✧ My father died owing a debt. I offered his creditors to take the dates for what was owed, but they refused and did not think there was enough in them to cover it. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said: “When you harvest it and place it, let me know.” When I harvested it and placed it in the mosque, I informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He came with Abu Bakr and Umar, sat down, and supplicated for blessing in it, then said: “Call your creditors and pay them.” I did not leave anyone who had a debt on my father except I paid it, and thirteen wasqs of Ajwa dates remained extra for me. He said: Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Maghrib prayer and mentioned that to him. He smiled ﷺ and said: “Go to Abu Bakr and Umar and tell them.” They said: “We knew when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did what he did, it would be so.”
