أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَيَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا فِطْرُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ

أَنْشُدُ اللَّهَ كُلَّ امْرِئٍ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ غَدِيرِ خُمٍّ لَمَّا قَامَ فَقَامَ أُنَاسٌ فَشَهِدُوا أَنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوهُ يَقُولُ «أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ؟ » قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ «مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَإِنَّ هَذَا مَوْلَاهُ اللَّهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالَاهُ وَعَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُ» فَخَرَجْتُ وَفِي نَفْسِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ فَلَقِيتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ

✧ I adjure by Allah every person who heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the day of Ghadir Khumm when he stood up. So some people stood up and testified that they heard him say: "Do you not know that I have more authority over the believers than their own selves?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Whoever I am his mawla, this is his mawla. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him." So I left with something in my soul about that. Then I met Zayd b. Arqam and mentioned that to him. He said: "We heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that to him."
