✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a sermon and said: "Indeed Allah has given a servant a choice between granting him as much of the splendor of this world as He wills and meeting Him, and he chose meeting his Lord." Abu Bakr wept and said: "Rather we ransom you with our fathers and our sons." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Be quiet, O Abu Bakr." Then he said: "Indeed the most gracious of people to me in his companionship and his wealth is Abu Bakr. If I were to take a bosom friend from among people, I would have taken Abu Bakr, but there is the brotherhood of Islam and its affection. Indeed no small door shall remain in the mosque but that it is closed, except the small door of Abu Bakr." Abu Sa'id said: I said: "How strange! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ tells us that a servant was given a choice by Allah between this world and the Hereafter, and this one is weeping! And behold, the one given the choice was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the one weeping was Abu Bakr, and Abu Bakr was the most knowledgeable of us about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
