أَخْبَرَنَا الْخَلِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ بِنْتِ تَمِيمِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَصِرِ بِوَاسِطٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
تُوُفِّيَ أَبِي وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَى غُرَمَائِهِ أَنْ يَأْخُذُوا التَّمْرَ بِمَا عَلَيْهِ فَأَبَوْا وَلَمْ يَرَوْ أَنَّ فِيهِ وَفَاءً فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «إِذَا جَدَدْتَهُ فَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ فَآذِنِّي» فَلَمَّا جَدَدْتَهُ وَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهِ فَدَعَا بِالْبَرَكَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ادْعُ غُرَمَاءَكَ فَأَوْفِهِمْ» قَالَ فَمَا تَرَكْتُ أَحَدًا لَهُ عَلَى أَبِي دَيْنٌ إِلَّا قَضَيْتُهُ وَفَضَلَ ثَلَاثَةَ عَشَرَ وَسْقًا سَبْعَةٌ عَجْوَةٌ وَسِتَّةٌ لَوْنٌ فَوَافَيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَضَحِكَ ﷺ وَقَالَ «ائْتِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَأَخْبِرْهُمَا ذَلِكَ» فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمَا فَقَالَا إِذْ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا صَنَعَ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا أَنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ ذَلِكَ

✧ My father died owing a debt. I offered his creditors to take the dates for what was owed, but they refused and did not think there was enough in it. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said, "When you have harvested it and placed it in the drying floor, inform me." When I harvested it and placed it in the drying floor, I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He came with Abu Bakr and ʿUmar, sat on it, and invoked blessing. Then he said, "Call your creditors and pay them." He said: I did not leave anyone who had a debt owed by my father but I paid him. There remained thirteen wasq: seven of ʿajwa and six of other dates. I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Maghrib and mentioned that to him. He ﷺ laughed and said, "Go to Abu Bakr and ʿUmar and inform them of that." I went to Abu Bakr and ʿUmar and informed them. They said, "Since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did what he did, we knew that this would happen."
