أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ مِنْ ثَرِيدٍ فَوُضِعَتْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْقَوْمِ فَتَعَاقَبُوهَا إِلَى الظُّهْرِ مِنْ غُدْوَةٍ يَقُومُ قَوْمٌ وَيَجْلِسُ آخَرُونَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِسَمُرَةَ أَكَانَ يُمَدُّ؟ فَقَالَ سَمُرَةُ مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَتَعَجَّبَ؟ مَا كَانَ يُمَدُّ إِلَّا مِنْ هَا هُنَا وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ

✧ A large bowl of tharid was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and placed before the people. They passed it around from morning until noon; some people would get up and others would sit. A man said to Samurah, "Was it replenished?" Samurah said, "What are you surprised about? It was only replenished from here," and he pointed with his hand to the sky.
