✧ «Indeed Allah, Mighty and Exalted, commanded John son of Zechariah with five words to act upon them and to command the Children of Israel to act upon them. And Jesus said to him: Indeed Allah has commanded you with five words to act upon them and to command the Children of Israel to act upon them, so either you command them or I command them. He said: So he gathered the people in the Temple until it was full, and they sat on the balconies. He admonished them and said: Indeed Allah, Mighty and Exalted, has commanded me with five words to act upon them and command you to act upon them. The first of them is that you worship Allah and associate nothing with Him. The likeness of that is the likeness of a man who bought a servant with his pure wealth, with gold or silver, and said to him: This is my house and this is my work. But the servant began to work and deliver to other than his master. Which of you would be pleased for his servant to be like that? Indeed Allah created you and provided for you, so worship Him and associate nothing with Him. And I command you with prayer, so when you pray, do not turn away, for when a servant does not turn away, He, Mighty and Exalted, faces him with His face. And I command you with fasting, and its likeness is like the likeness of a man who has a sachet containing musk and with him is a group, and he is pleased that they find its scent. Indeed fasting is sweeter with Allah than the scent of musk. And I command you with charity, and its likeness is like the likeness of a man whom the enemy captured, and they bound his hand to his neck and wanted to strike his neck. He said: Will you let me ransom myself? And he began to give them little and much to free himself from them. And I command you with the remembrance of Allah, and its likeness is like the likeness of a man whom the enemy pursued quickly on his trail, and he came to a fortress and secured himself in it. Likewise, the servant does not secure himself from Satan except by the remembrance of Allah.» The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «And I command you with five things that Allah commanded me with: the congregation, hearing, obedience, emigration, and striving in the path of Allah. Whoever departs from the congregation by a span has removed the bond of Islam from his neck, unless he returns. And whoever calls with the call of the Age of Ignorance is among the heaps of Hell.» A man said: Even if he fasts and prays? He said: «Even if he fasts and prays. So call with the call of Allah, Who has named you the Muslims, the believers, the servants of Allah.»
