✧ He heard Ibn Mas'ud say, 'The wretched is one who was wretched in his mother's womb, and the blessed is one who is admonished by others.' Then a man from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Hudhayfa b. Asid al-Ghifari came and narrated that from the saying of Ibn Mas'ud. He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "When the drop has passed forty-two nights, Allah sends to it an angel who shapes it and creates its hearing, sight, skin, flesh, and bones. Then he says, 'My Lord, male or female?' And your Lord decrees what He wills, and the angel writes it. Then he says, 'My Lord, its term?' And your Lord decrees what He wills, and the angel writes it. Then he says, 'My Lord, its provision?' And your Lord decrees what He wills, and the angel takes the scroll in his hand, and nothing is added to the matter or subtracted from it."'
