أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو بِالْفُسْطَاطِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَالِمٍ عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ دَوَاءً نَتَدَاوَى بِهِ وَرُقًى نَسْتَرْقِي بِهَا وَأَشْيَاءَ نَفْعَلُهَا هَلْ تَرُدُّ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «يَا كَعْبُ بَلْ هِيَ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ»

✧ O Messenger of Allah, what do you think of a medicine we treat ourselves with, incantations we seek healing with, and things we do—do they repel any of Allah's decree? He said: 'O Ka'b, rather they are part of Allah's decree.'
