✧ 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. If they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, face our qiblah, eat our slaughtered animals, and pray our prayer, then their blood and wealth are forbidden to us. They have the rights of Muslims and bear the obligations that Muslims bear.'

machine translationʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak, Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb al-Miṣrī and Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā b. Sumayʿ narrate it from Ḥumayd, from Anas. ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī, when this hadith was mentioned to him from Ibn al-Mubārak, from Ḥumayd, from Anas, said: "I fear it is an error; perhaps it is from Ḥumayd, from al-Ḥasan, as a mursal report." But it is not so, because Muʿādh b. Muʿādh al-ʿAnbarī is among the most reliable (athbāt), and he narrated it from Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl, from Maymūn b. Siyāh, from Anas as his own statement, not raised to the Prophet (ghayr marfūʿ), and that is the correct version.
