أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ بِدِمَشْقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَهْلٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ السَّكَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ
«الْبَيَانُ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَالْعِيُّ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَلَيْسَ الْبَيَانُ كَثْرَةَ الْكَلَامِ وَلَكِنَّ الْبَيَانَ الْفَصْلُ فِي الْحَقِّ وَلَيْسَ الْعِيُّ قِلَّةَ الْكَلَامِ وَلَكِنْ مَنْ سَفِهَ الْحَقَّ»

✧ “Eloquence is from Allah and inarticulateness is from Satan. Eloquence is not abundance of speech, but eloquence is decisiveness in the truth. Inarticulateness is not scarcity of speech, but it is the one who makes light of the truth.”
