✧ The lie

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ زَنْجُوَيْهِ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

«مَا كَانَ خُلُقٌ أَبْغَضَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ وَلَقَدْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَكْذِبُ عِنْدَهُ الْكَذْبَةَ فَمَا تَزَالُ فِي نَفْسِهِ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَحْدَثَ مِنْهَا تَوْبَةً»

✧ «There was no characteristic more hateful to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than lying. A man would tell a lie in his presence, and it would remain in his mind until he knew that he had repented of it.»
