✧ A man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ saw in a dream that he met a group of Jews and their appearance pleased him. He said, 'You are a people, were it not that you say Ezra is the son of God.' They said, 'And you are a people, were it not that you say, "What God wills and Muhammad wills."' He said, 'And he met a group of Christians and their appearance pleased him. He said, "You are a people, were it not that you say the Messiah is the son of God." They said, "And you are a people, were it not that you say, 'What God wills and Muhammad wills.'"' When morning came, he related that to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said, 'I kept hearing it from you and it hurt me, so do not say, "What God wills and Muhammad wills."'

machine translationThus said Ibn ʿUyaynah, from ʿAbd al-Malik, from Ribʿī, from Ḥudhayfah. Shuʿbah and Abū ʿAwānah said: from ʿAbd al-Malik, from Ribʿī b. Ḥirāsh, from al-Ṭufayl, the maternal brother of ʿĀʾishah. Maʿmar said: from ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr, from Jābir b. Samurah.
