أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَشْوَعَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي كَاتَبُ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ

كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ أَنِ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ «إِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ»

✧ Mu‘awiyah wrote to al-Mughirah, ‘Write to me something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.’ He wrote to him, ‘I heard him say: Indeed, Allah dislikes three things for you: gossip (qil wa qal), wasting wealth, and asking too many questions.’
