✧ Two men from the east stood up as orators and spoke, then sat down. Then Thabit b. Qays, the orator of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, stood up and spoke, and they marveled at his speech. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and delivered a sermon, saying, “O people, speak according to your manner, for indeed the excessive elaboration of speech is from Satan. Indeed, some eloquence is sorcery.”
