أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ
«إِذَا أَوَى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَلْيَأْخُذْ دَاخِلَةَ إِزَارَهُ فَلْيَنْفُضْ بِهَا فِرَاشَهُ وَيُسَمِّي اللَّهَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا خَلَفَهُ عَلَيْهِ بَعْدَهُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَضْطَجِعَ فَلْيَضْطَجِعْ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الْأَيْمَنَ وَلْيَقُلْ سُبْحَانَكَ رَبِّي بِكَ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا حَفِظْتَ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ»

✧ When one of you retires to his bed, let him take the inner part of his lower garment and dust off his bed with it and mention Allah's name, for he does not know what has come upon it after him. And when he wants to lie down, let him lie down on his right side and say: 'Glory be to You, my Lord. By You I lay down my side and by You I raise it. If You withhold my soul, then forgive it; and if You release it, then protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.'

يرويه عبيد الله بن عمر وإسماعيل بن أمية ومحمد بن عجلان والضحاك بن عثمان عن سعيد فأما عبيد الله بن عمر فاختلف عنه فرواه حماد بن زيد ومعمر وابن المبارك وبشر بن المفضل وهشام بن حسان وعباد بن عباد وعبد الله بن نمير عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن سعيد عن أبي هريرة وخالفهم زهير بن معاوية وأبو بدر شجاع بن الوليد ويحيى بن سعيد الأموي وجعفر الأحمر وهريم بن سفيان وعبد الله بن رجاء المكي فرووه عن عبيد الله عن سعيد عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة وأما إسماعيل بن أمية فاختلف عنه أيضا فرواه إسماعيل بن عياش وعبد الله بن رجاء المكي عن إسماعيل عن سعيد عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة وخالفهم يحيى بن سليم الطائفي رواه عن إسماعيل عن سعيد عن أبي هريرة وكذلك رواه ابن عجلان والضحاك بن عثمان عن سعيد عن أبي هريرة لم يذكر فيه أبا سعيد وكذلك رواه مالك بن أنس وعبد الله بن عمر العمري عن سعيد عن أبي هريرة حدثنا إبراهيم بن حماد ثنا أبو موسى وثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم البزار ثنا عمر بن شبة وثنا ابن مبشر ويعقوب بن محمد بن عبد الوهاب قالا ثنا حفص بن عمر قالوا ثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن عبيد الله بن عمر حدثني سعيد بن أبي سعيد عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال إذا آوى أحدكم إلى فراشه فلينزع داخلة إزاره فلينفض بها فراشه ثم ليتوسد يمينه ثم ليقل باسمك رب وضعت جنبي وبك أرفعه اللهم إن أمسكتها فارحمها وإن أرسلتها فاحفظها بما تحفظ عبادك الصالحين المعنى واحد
machine translationIt is narrated by ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿUmar, Ismāʿīl b. Umayyah, Muḥammad b. ʿAjlān and al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. ʿUthmān, from Saʿīd. As for ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿUmar, there is disagreement about him. Ḥammād b. Zayd, Maʿmar, Ibn al-Mubārak, Bishr b. al-Mufaḍḍal, Hishām b. Ḥassān, ʿAbbād b. ʿAbbād and ʿAbd Allāh b. Numayr narrated it from ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿUmar, from Saʿīd, from Abū Hurayrah. Zuhayr b. Muʿāwiyah, Abū Badr Shujāʿ b. al-Walīd, Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Umawī, Jaʿfar al-Aḥmar, Harim b. Sufyān and ʿAbd Allāh b. Rajāʾ al-Makkī differed from them, and narrated it from ʿUbayd Allāh, from Saʿīd, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah. As for Ismāʿīl b. Umayyah, there is also disagreement about him. Ismāʿīl b. ʿAyyāsh and ʿAbd Allāh b. Rajāʾ al-Makkī narrated it from Ismāʿīl, from Saʿīd, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah. Yaḥyā b. Sulaym al-Ṭāʾifī differed from them, narrating it from Ismāʿīl, from Saʿīd, from Abū Hurayrah. Likewise Ibn ʿAjlān and al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. ʿUthmān narrated it from Saʿīd, from Abū Hurayrah, without mentioning Abū Saʿīd in it. Likewise Mālik b. Anas and ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar al-ʿUmarī narrated it from Saʿīd, from Abū Hurayrah. Ibrāhīm b. Ḥammād narrated to us, Abū Mūsā narrated to us; and Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm al-Bazzār narrated to us, ʿUmar b. Shabbah narrated to us; and Ibn Mubashshir and Yaʿqūb b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb narrated to us, both said: Ḥafṣ b. ʿUmar narrated to us. They said: Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd narrated to us, from ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿUmar: Saʿīd b. Abī Saʿīd narrated to me, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "When one of you retires to his bed, let him remove the inner edge of his lower garment and dust his bed with it, then let him lie on his right side, then let him say: 'In Your name, my Lord, I have laid down my side, and by You I raise it. O Allah, if You take it back, have mercy on it, and if You send it back, protect it with that with which You protect Your righteous servants.'" The meaning is the same.
