أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا اسْتَجَدَّ ثَوْبًا سَمَّاهُ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِي هَذَا الْقَمِيصَ أَوِ الرِّدَاءَ أَوِ الْعِمَامَةَ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهُ وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ»

Translation

  4. al-Jurayrī
  5. Abū Naḍrah
  6. Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ acquired a new garment, he would name it, saying: “O Allah, You have clothed me with this shirt, cloak, or turban. I ask You for its good and the good for which it was made, and I seek refuge with You from its evil and the evil for which it was made.”
