أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ مَوْلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُثَنَّى الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَرْوَانُ «سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ النَّفْخِ فِي الشَّرَابِ؟ » قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ نَعَمْ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَا أَرْوَى مِنْ نَفَسٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَأَبِنِ الْقَدَحَ عَنْ فِيكَ ثُمَّ تَنَفَّسْ» قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَرَى الْقَذَاةَ فِيهِ قَالَ «فَأَهْرِقْهَا»

✧ I was with Marwan b. al-Hakam when Abu Sa'id al-Khudri entered upon him. Marwan said to him, "Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding blowing into the drink?" Abu Sa'id said, "Yes." A man said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, I do not quench my thirst from one breath." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then move the cup away from your mouth, then breathe." He said, "I see a speck in it." He said, "Then pour it out."
