✧ Abu Talhah saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hungry and came to Umm Sulaym and said, "Do you have anything?" She said, "We have nothing but about a mudd of barley flour." He said, "Knead it and prepare it. Perhaps we can invite the Prophet ﷺ to eat with us." He said: So she kneaded it and baked it, and it came as a loaf. He said, "Invite the Prophet ﷺ for me." He said: I went to the Prophet ﷺ, and with him were some people - Mubarak b. Fadalah said, I think about eighty-some. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Talhah invites you." He said to his companions, "Respond to Abu Talhah." I hurried back to tell him that he and his companions had come. Bakr said: He scolded me severely. Thabit said: Abu Talhah said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ knows better what is in my house than I do." The two narrators said from Anas: Abu Talhah met him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have nothing but a loaf. I saw you hungry, so I ordered Umm Sulaym to make that loaf." He said: He asked for the loaf and asked for a large platter and placed it in it, and said, "Is there any ghee?" Abu Talhah said: There was something in the small skin. He brought it, and the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Talhah squeezed it until something came out. The Prophet ﷺ wiped his forefinger with it and then wiped the loaf, and it swelled. He said, "In the name of Allah." The loaf swelled, and he kept doing that while the loaf swelled until I saw the loaf in the platter melting. Then he said, "Invite ten of my companions." I invited ten for him. He said: The Prophet ﷺ placed his hand in the middle of the loaf and said, "Eat, in the name of Allah." They ate from around the loaf until they were full. Then he said, "Invite ten more." He kept inviting ten at a time, and they ate from that loaf until eighty-some people ate from around the loaf and were full, while the middle of the loaf, where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand, remained as it was.
