✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I am exhausted [from hunger]." He sent to one of his wives, and she said, "By the One who sent you with the truth as a prophet, I have nothing but water." Then he sent to another, and she said the same, until all of them said the same. He said, "Who will host this man tonight? May Allah have mercy on him." A man from the Ansar stood up and said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." He took him to his family and said to his wife, "Do you have anything?" She said, "No, except the food of my children." He said, "Distract them with something. When our guest enters, light the lamp and show him that we are eating. When he reaches to eat, get up to the lamp and extinguish it." He said: They sat down, and the guest ate. In the morning, he went to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah marveled at what you two did last night."
