✧ He was ten years old when the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah. So my mothers used to urge me to serve the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: 'So I served the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for ten years during his life in Madinah, and the Prophet ﷺ died when I was twenty years old.' He said: 'And I was the most knowledgeable of people about the matter of the hijab when it was revealed. Ubayy b. Ka'b used to ask me about it.' He said: 'And the first part of what was revealed concerning the wedding of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Zaynab bt. Jahsh was that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became a bridegroom with her. He invited the people, and they ate the food and left. A group of them remained with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they prolonged their stay. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and went out, and I went out with him so that they might leave. He walked, and I walked with him until he reached the threshold of 'A'ishah's room. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ thought that they had left, so he returned, and I returned with him until he entered upon Zaynab, and there they were sitting and had not gotten up. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, and I returned with him until he reached the threshold of 'A'ishah's room. He thought that they had left, so he returned, and I returned, and there they had left. So he put a screen between them and him, and the hijab was revealed.'
