Sahih Ibn Hibban 5046

✧ debt in the books of Allah, the Most High, for the lender twice the reward of charity, one of them.

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

«كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُدَايِنُ النَّاسَ فَإِذَا أَعْسَرَ الْمُعْسِرُ قَالَ لِفَتَاهُ تَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ يَتَجَاوَزُ عَنَّا فَلَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَتَجَاوَزَ عَنْهُ»

✧ “There was a man who used to lend people money, and when an insolvent person became insolvent, he would say to his servant, ‘Overlook it, perhaps Allah will overlook us.’ So he met Allah, and He overlooked him.”
