أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِتَمْرٍ رَيَّانَ وَكَانَ تَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْلًا فِيهِ يُبْسٌ فَقَالَ «أَنَّى لَكُمْ هَذَا؟ » قَالُوا ابْتَعْنَاهُ صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ مِنْ تَمْرِنَا قَالَ «فَلَا تَفْعَلْ إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَصْلُحُ وَلَكِنْ بِعْ تَمْرَكَ ثُمَّ اشْتَرِ مِنْ هَذَا حَاجَتَكَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought fresh ripe dates, while the dates of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were of the ba‘l kind that had dryness in them. He said: “Where did you get this?” They said: We bought it for a sa‘ of our dates for two sa‘s. He said: “Do not do that. This is not permissible. But sell your dates, then buy from this what you need.”
