✧ The Prophet ﷺ said on the day of Hunayn: «Whoever kills a disbeliever, his spoils belong to him.» Abu Talhah killed twenty men that day and took their spoils. Abu Qatadah said: “O Messenger of Allah, I struck a man on the shoulder strap, and he had a coat of mail. I was made to leave him, and a man said: ‘I took it, so satisfy him from it and give it to me.’” The Prophet ﷺ was not asked for anything except that he gave it or remained silent, so he remained silent ﷺ. ‘Umar b. al-Khattab, ؓ, said: “By Allah, Allah will not give it back to a lion of His lions and give it to you.” The Prophet ﷺ laughed and said: «‘Umar spoke the truth.»
