✧ The Battle of Badr

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ

«كُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ بَدْرٍ كَانُوا ثَلَاثَ مِائَةٍ وَبِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ عَلَى عِدَّةِ أَصْحَابِ طَالُوتَ الَّذِينَ جَازُوا مَعَهُ النَّهْرَ وَمَا جَازَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ»

Translation

✧ 'We used to say that the people of Badr were three hundred and odd, the same number as the companions of Talut who crossed the river with him, and none but a believer crossed with him.'
