✧ The Virtue of Jihad

أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبِ الْبَلْخِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «رَجُلٌ جَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِمَالِهِ وَنَفْسِهِ ثُمَّ مُؤْمِنٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, which people are best?’ He said: «A man who wages jihad in the cause of Allah with his wealth and his life; then a believer in one of the mountain passes who worships Allah and leaves people safe from his evil.»
