✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted us mut'a in the year of the Conquest. So I and another man went to a young woman, like a long-necked young she-camel, to enjoy her. We sat before her, he wearing a striped cloak and I wearing a striped cloak. We spoke to her and gave her our two cloaks as her dower. I was more youthful than him, and his cloak was better than mine. She began looking at me once and at his cloak once, then she chose me and I married her. I stayed with her for three [days]. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it, and I left her.

machine translationAs for the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is a disagreement over al-Rabīʿ b. Sabrah, and the report from him that it was during the Conquest (of Mecca) is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) and better known.
