✧ Sinān and I set out to perform ʿumrah. Sinān was driving a sacrificial camel, and it became exhausted on the way. He said, “If we reach the town, I will inquire about that.” He said: When morning came and we alighted at al-Baṭḥāʾ, he said, “Go to Ibn ʿAbbās.” So we went and he mentioned to him the matter of his sacrificial camel. He said, “You have come to the right person. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent sixteen sacrificial camels with a man and gave him instructions concerning them. He went, then returned and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with any of them that becomes disabled?’ He said, ‘Slaughter it, then dip its sandal in its blood, then place it on its side, and do not eat from it—neither you nor anyone of your company.’”
