✧ “Shall I not guide you to something that expiates sins and increases good deeds?” They said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: “Performing ablution thoroughly even in difficult circumstances, taking many steps to this mosque, and prayer after prayer. No one leaves his house purified, comes to the mosque and prays with the Muslims or with the imam, then waits for the next prayer, except that the angels say: O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him. So when you stand for prayer, straighten your rows and fill the gaps. When the imam says takbīr, say takbīr, for I see you from behind me. When he says ‘Allah hears the one who praises Him,’ say: ‘Our Lord, to You is praise.’ The best rows of men are the first, and the worst rows of men are the last. The best rows of women are the last, and the worst rows of women are the first. O assembly of women, when the men prostrate, guard your eyes from the nakedness of the men.”

هذا وهم إنما هو الثوري عن ابن عقيل وليس لعبد الله بن أبي بكر معنى

machine translationThis is a mistake (wahm). It is only al-Thawrī, from Ibn ʿAqīl, and there is no basis for ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr in it.

هذا باطل يعني من حديث عبد الله بن أبي بكر عن ابن المسيب عنه إنما هو من حديث ابن عقيل وأنكره أيضا أشد الإنكار وقال ليس بشيء يعني ابن عقيل

machine translationThis is false (bāṭil), meaning from the hadith of ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr, from Ibn al-Musayyib, from him. It is only from the hadith of Ibn ʿAqīl. He also rejected it most severely and said: "It is nothing," meaning Ibn ʿAqīl.

in صحيح ابن حبان, p. 404
