✧ He was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until, when he was on part of the road to Makkah, he lagged behind with some companions of his who were in a state of iḥrām, while he was not in iḥrām. He saw a wild donkey, mounted his horse, and asked his companions to hand him his whip, but they refused. He asked them for his spear, and they refused, so he took it. Then he charged at the donkey and killed it. Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ ate from it, and some refused. When they caught up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they asked him about that, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “It is only a meal that Allah fed you.”
