أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ
كَانَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فِي نَاسٍ مُحْرِمِينَ وَأَبُو قَتَادَةَ حِلٌّ فَأَبْصَرَ الْقَوْمُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ فَلَمْ يُؤْذِنُوهُ حَتَّى أَبْصَرَهُ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فَقَعَدَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ فَرَسٍ وَاخْتَلَسَ مِنْ بَعْضِهِمْ سَوْطًا فَحَمَلَ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ فَصَرَعَهُ فَأَتَاهُمْ بِهِ فَأَكَلُوهُ وَحَمَلُوا فَلَقُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَمَّا صَنَعَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فَقَالَ ﷺ «هَلْ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ أَوْ أَمَرَهُ؟ » قَالُوا لَا قَالَ «فَكُلُوهُ»

✧ Abū Qatādah was among people in a state of iḥrām, while Abū Qatādah himself was not in iḥrām. The people spotted a wild donkey, but they did not alert him to it until Abū Qatādah himself saw it. He mounted his horse, snatched a whip from one of them, charged at the donkey, and brought it down. He brought it to them, and they ate it and carried [the meat]. They met the Messenger of Allah and asked him about what Abū Qatādah had done. He ﷺ said: “Did any of you point to it or command him?” They said: “No.” He said: “Then eat it.”
