✧ We set out to meet the new moon of Dhū al-Ḥijjah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever of you wishes to assume iḥrām for an ʿumrah, let him do so. Were it not that I have brought the sacrificial animal, I would assume iḥrām for an ʿumrah.” Some of his companions assumed iḥrām for ḥajj and some for ʿumrah. She said: “I was among those who assumed iḥrām for ʿumrah. The Day of ʿArafah overtook me while I was menstruating and I had not exited my ʿumrah. I complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Leave your ʿumrah, undo your hair, comb it, and assume iḥrām for ḥajj.’” She said: “I did so, until when it was the night of al-Ḥaṣbah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Bakr sent me with her, riding behind him, and she went out to al-Tanʿīm and assumed iḥrām for an ʿumrah in place of her ʿumrah, then she circumambulated the House and went between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah. Thus Allah completed her ḥajj and her ʿumrah, and there was no fasting, no sacrificial animal, and no charity in any of that.”

machine translationSomeone else claimed that this is a mistake on the part of ʿUrwah, and that the correct version is the narration of al-Aswad, al-Qāsim and ʿAmrah from her, that she entered the state of iḥrām for Ḥajj alone (ifrād).
