أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ يَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

قَالَ لِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَنْفَعَكَ بِهِ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْهُ وَلَمْ يَنْزِلْ فِيهِ وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهُ وَكَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ فَلَمَّا اكْتَوَيْتُ ذَهَبَ أَوْ رُفِعَ عَنِّي فَلَمَّا تَرَكْتُهُ رَجَعَ إِلَيَّ»

✧ ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn said to me: “Shall I not relate to you a ḥadīth, perhaps Allah will benefit you by it? ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the ḥajj and the ʿumrah, and he did not forbid it, nor did any Qurʾān come down concerning it, nor did he declare it unlawful. And he used to greet me, but when I cauterized myself the greeting went away—or was lifted from me—and when I abandoned it, it returned to me.’”
