أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ بِعَسْقَلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الضَّحَّاكَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ فِي حَجَّةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ «لَا يَفْتِي بِالتَّمَتُّعِ بِالْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجِّ إِلَّا مَنْ جَهِلَ أَمْرَ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلَا» فَقَالَ لَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ «بِئْسَ مَا قُلْتُ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي فَوَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَفَعَلْنَاهُ مَعَهُ»

✧ He heard al-Dahhak b. Qays during the Hajj of Mu'awiyah b. Abi Sufyan saying: “No one gives a legal opinion permitting tamattu' with Umrah to Hajj except one who is ignorant of the command of Allah, Mighty and Exalted.” Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas said to him: “What a bad thing you have said, O son of my brother! By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did it, and we did it with him.”
