✧ We, the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, entered ihram for ḥajj purely, with nothing else accompanying it. We arrived in Makkah on the morning of the fourth day of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. The Prophet ﷺ commanded us to exit ihram. He said: "Exit ihram and make it an ʿumrah." News reached him that we were saying, when there were only five days left between us and ʿArafah: "He commanded us to exit ihram; shall we go to Minā while our private parts are dripping with semen?" The Prophet ﷺ stood and gave a sermon, saying: "I have heard what you said. I am the most dutiful and most God-fearing of you. Were it not for the sacrificial animal, I would have exited ihram. If I were to face what I have turned my back on from my matter, I would not have brought a sacrificial animal." He said: And ʿAlī arrived from Yemen, and he said: "With what did you enter ihram?" He said: "With what the Prophet ﷺ entered ihram with." He said: "Then offer a sacrifice and remain in ihram as you are." He said: And Surāqah said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, is this ʿumrah of ours for this year or forever?" He said: "Rather, forever."
